Our policy is to feature different musicians every week so that there is a variety of jazz music. alongside our established acts we sometimes have new musicians performing a couple of songs as we feel it is important that new acts have the chance to perform with the support of professional musicians.

Each week we have a raffle and all proceeds from this and the entrance fee go to paying the musicians, so please buy some tickets. please bring cash as we can’t accept cards for the raffle!

history

The Red House is a Grade II listed building. the Club room itself is an intimate and warm space with a welcoming and diverse crowd of people.
we have a large stunning garden which is ideal for relaxing in on a summer evening while listening to our jazz house band.

The original house dates back to 1717 but it was extensively remodelled in the 1880s and is one of the only two remaining of the old village of Forest Gate. The name relates to the red brick façade with its white stucco features. Inside there is a magnificent staircase with a wrought-iron balustrade, marble fire-places in the ground floor rooms and Victorian shutters and cornices.

The jazz club was started on the 25th January 2005 by Sid Thompson (drums) and John Pamenter (double bass) – who were the house rhythm section for many years – with the intention of providing musicians with an opportunity to play some jazz and entertain the many friends who comprise the audience.
